Veselica: Slovenian traditional town's celebration!!! Fiestas tradicionales de los pueblos eslovenos!!!

On 6th of August, Mateja (Slovenian girl who was my Spanish student, went to Colombia for AIESEC internship and fell in love with my country) invited me to her town, Poljčane, to experience "Velselica" it's traditional town's celebration.
Mateja, Mateja's father, mother and sister are firemen, and this celebration is organized by firemen in the town. So, it was even more interesting to see how much effort they put in it and how happy they feel when everybody is having fun and everything is well organized :)


The first part of the celebration takes place in the main street of the town; it's a parade wherethere are musicians, riders and the best horses of the surroundings, old typical carriages and a lot of culture’ samples such as the old way to make wool, to cut wood, to work the earth with old machinery, to prepare bread, wine, traditional food (Big pig… see the picture ;)), old massive transport :), how families moved out, a folklore group dancing and even how kings used to take a shower :) it was really interesting and funny to me.



When the parade was over, everybody went to the firemen station where there were two big tents with a lot of wine, beer and meet (that’s party in Slovenia!!!) and a stage where a they were a lot of games for everybody, a group playing polka and more things :) there was also exhibitions of bakery, fireman equipment, animals, herbs and it’s products, wine and šnops (STRONG traditional alcohol drink).



Everybody was happy, drunk and friendly, so we all had a lot of fun!!! Thank you Mateja for this great experience. I love your country as you love mine ;)

El 6 de Agosto, Mateja (Una chica eslovena que fue mi estudiante, estuvo en Colombia en un practica a traves de AIESEC y se enamoro de mi pais) me invito a su pueblo, Poljčane, para presenciar “Veselica” es una fiesta traidicional de los pueblos eslovenos.
Mateja, su papa, su mama y su hermana son bomberos, y esta fiesta es organizada por los bomberos. Asi que fue mucho mas interesante ver cuanto esfuerzo dedicaron a la fiesta y lo felices que se estaban cuando todos nos estabamos divirtiendo y todo estaba bien organizado :)

La fiesta empieza en la calle principal del pueblo; es un desfile de musicos, jinetes y los mejores caballos de los alrededores, carruajes tipicos y muchas muestras culturales como la forma Antigua de hacer lana, de cortar Madera, de trabajar la tierra con maquinaria Antigua, de preparer pan, vino, comida tradicional (Un super cerdote… miren la foto ;)), transporte masivo antiguo, como se trasteaban las familias anteriormente, grupo de folclor bailando, hasta como se banaban los reyes :) fue muy interesante y divertido para mi.

Cuando el desfile se acabo, todo mundo se fue a la estacion de bomberos donde hbaian dos carpas grandes con muchisimo vino, cerveza y carne (Eso es fiesta en Eslovenia!!!) y una tarima donde habian muchos juegos para todo el mundo, un grupo tocando polka y muchas cosas mas :) Habian muchas exposiciones de panaderia, de equipo de bomberos, de animals, de hierbas y productos herbales, vino y šnops (es una bebida alcoholica tipica y muy FUERTE).


Todo el mundo la paso muy bien, muy felices, borrachos y amigables!!! Muchas gracias Mateja por tu invitacion, la pase muy rico. Yo amo a tu pais tanto como tu amas el mio ;)
