Back in Colombia!!!

Salento, Quindio :) 22.12.2007

Uuhh. Long time without a post on my blog J you know facebook is quite effective so we can be updated when we don’t have much time to post in our blogs :P

mm… where to start from, firs, from now on my blog is gonna be just in English not just because I am at home, so, my mom just first hand information from me :P but because she is studying English and he level is good enough to understand my blog :) I am really proud of you mom!!!

Okkk… fast review, I finished my masters at the beginning of October and by 15th of October I was already in Pereira, Colombia, enjoying with my mom, my brother and my friends. It has been really cool to come back to meet old friends to find out how true friendship can survive through the distance and the time… I was expecting to feel lonely and to miss many things, but let me tell you that I feel completely welcome in my country, my family, my friends, food, weather, people mood, everything… even “negative” things that my country is facing in social and political fields make me feel so active, useful & comfortable here.

Obviously, I miss people, my friends around the world and my Slovenian parents, but we have been in touch, our relationship is so strong that it can survive and we can enjoy it as much as we want!!! While they prepare their trip to Colombia :P

It was a bit difficult to learn again how to deal with so bad daily news going on close to me, terrorism, violence and poverty, plus some cultural facts that I don’t like much as “machismo”. But it’s part of my reality, the place where God wanted me to be born and now He gives me the chance to contribute and to keep growing, it’s how I see it and how it makes me feel this is the place for me.

You know, you here everywhere its is so difficult to find a job in Colombia, if you get a job is not well paid, is with short period contract, not good conditions to work… ohh God, so many negative comments that make you think a lot while you send CVs and don’t get reply “soon”. Many options and ideas came to my mind, but my faith in God was stronger and He gave me the calm and patience to wait for what He had for me. Now, I am really happy and I obviously keep thinking that all my dreams can come true because God loves me. I attend 3 interviews, 2 in Medellin 1 in Bogota, I got two offers and I chose the one in CIDET (Technological Research Center, Colombian electrical sector), in the research department, we are going to be 6 electrical engineers, with master in different fields, generating research projects to solve technical problems of companies of the sector, I’ll start on 16th of January 2008 and the working conditions are quite good.
This sounds really really good to me, but that’s not all… my living place will be Medellin, the city that I like the most in my country, there you find the friendliest people in the world and you never feel foreigner, the weather is ideal for me, there flowers everywhere… well, Medellin export flowers… I am sure most of you have bought them and you don’t even know where that amazing flower come from… so, maybe from now on, you might remember I am in that great city where that flower come from J

Now do you understand why I am soooo sure that God loves me?? :)
Well, this is about my professional life… and you might be thinking: “well, what about her family?”… aaahhh, I love them, I missed them and they missed me as well, so, everything has been perfect!!! Especially in this Christmas time… why??? Because for me this time was regular one, I tried not to think that was a special period of the year to spend with my family in order to enjoy everything I had where I was and not to miss my family and get sad. What I didn’t know was that the same happened here in my house, there was no Christmas decoration, no big celebration, no going out to enjoy lights and shopping centers atmosphere, Christmas spirit took a break in our lives. But, now we are together, three of us are happy enjoying and sharing this nice period of the year and everything, every single light means so much to me bringing light into my soul, that I have no words to describe how much I am enjoying my time Back in Colombia!!!

Thank you guys for being with me no matter distance or time, thanks for your friendship, for your love, for your trust, thanks for being a very important part of my life.

I want to wish you the best Christmas ever, enjoy with people you have around, happiness is worthy!!!! Just enjoy you life, may this Christmas time bring peace, happiness, love and prosperity to you life and receive the incoming year with the most positive attitude and your open arms to take all the treasures God has for you!

God blesses you!
A hug with love from Colombia

Nice to hear from you Sandra!

I have a funny feeling. I just came back to Helsinki to my flat (the AIESEC MC flat) from my hometown where I spent the Christmas days. Tomorrow morning I will leave to Berlin to visit my girlfriend for 1,5 weeks. Going back to Berlin of course brings loads of memories and people in my mind... So many memories and so many nice people.

I miss you Sandra. Thank you for your support back then. I would not be here without you!

I wish you all the best for your life back in Colombia! I'll keep on reading your postings every now and then (especially when they now turn to be in English, mi espanol no esta bueno:P)

    Hugs from Finland,
    Jouni
